CHLORO BUTYL

Chlorobutyl is an elastomeric isobutylene-isoprene copolymer (halogenated butyl) containing reactive chlorine.

Main Properties

Chlorobutyl has the predominantly saturated backbone of butyl, it has many of the attributes of the butyl molecule:

  • Low permeability to air, gases and moisture
  • Vibration damping
  • Low glass transition temperature
  • Resistance to aging and to weathering from atmospheric exposure
  • Wide vulcanization versatility
  • Fast cure rates
  • Processing safety: no nitrosamines or nitrosamines precursors
